Dealing With a Faulty Computer

Whether we use them to stalk our old college friends, look up a new recipe, or research something that interests us, computers have become a huge part of our lives. So naturally when they break, we panic!  If only fixing computers was as easy as it looks on TV. You know the ones where the problem always seems to be forgetting to plug the computer into the wall! While there are a few people who occasionally have this problem, it is hard to believe it is as common as TV may imply.  Unfortunately, water damage, cracked hinges, and overused batteries are much more prevalent and can be a serious issue.

Thankfully, we know how to fix all those problems, at Computer Repair Doctor.  However, before you take your precious computer in anywhere, it is always a good idea to try a few simple fixes first. Just to make sure you aren’t, “that guy/girl.”  You may want to sneak a look at the back of your computer, and make sure all the wires are plugged in correctly. If someone just happens to question you, resist the urge to jump upright and claim you weren’t doing anything. Instead, calmly stand back up and explain that you were simply checking the flux capacitor and quickly walk away.

Once you are positive your computer is properly plugged in, it’s a good idea to restart your computer if possible. If your computer is frozen and unresponsive, you can manually restart your computer by holding down the power button until it turns off. It is surprising how often this will fix the problem, and it is equally surprising how often people neglect to do it.

If neither of those options work, it may be time to take your computer in to get repaired. However, there is one last thing to do before you take your computer in and that’s save your data! Whether it’s pictures of your adorable cat, or a research paper you’ve spent months working on, your data is precious! (Depending on what your cat looks like it may only be precious to you, but it’s still precious!) If you are unsure how to save your data, our techs here at Computer Repair Doctor would be more than happy to help.

When you take your computer in make sure you remember what you were doing when your computer started to fail. If you were trying to open a particular file, go to a certain website, or sync your phone to your computer, this can all give helpful insight into what may be the problem. Also, try to remember any error messages that may have appeared. A great idea is to pull out your smartphone and take a picture of any errors, so that you can accurately recount the problems to anyone who tries to help.

I know computer problems can be a hassle, but we will provide quality service and care to your repair here at Computer Repair Doctor. So, by you following all of these simple tips, it will speed up the process of getting your computer repaired, and it will definitely assist the techs here at Computer Repair Doctor in diagnosing your problem. Lastly, it can save you time and money in the future!
