Preventing Malware

Malware is short for malicious software, and applies to many different types of viruses. The common theme is that they have malicious intent toward you. They want to steal your passwords, credit card info, slow down your computer, or they just want to harvest data about you. That’s why there are so many anti-virus solutions out there, and it can be hard to pick the right ones. 

A lot of antivirus programs can be more trouble than they’re worth. McAfee and Norton are pretty notorious for being very bloated, and constantly pester you with pop-ups themselves. An antivirus should be quiet and run in the background, only giving you notifications every once in a while – and that’s why we’ve handpicked our favorite antivirus solutions for you.

What do those programs each do?

Windows Defender Configuration – Windows has a good antivirus tool in the operating system already, and we’ll make sure to configure it so that it’s doing a good job for you in the background.

UBlock Origin – Best AdBlocker in the business and it’s compatible with all browsers.

Malware Bytes – Our absolute favorite virus protection software. The free version (Ultra Defense Lite package) is a good check-up, but the premium version will cover you for a year.

CCleaner – Helps prune out unwanted software bugs and glitches to keep your machine running smoothly.
